Page builders shape development and performance. This guide compares Elementor, Oxygen, and Gutenberg so you pick the right tool.

Best use cases
Elementor is a popular visual builder with a huge template and widget library. Great for designers who want speed of building and powerful visual controls. Downsides: can output extra markup and increase page size unless optimized (use lighter widgets and enable performance features).
Oxygen is designed for developers: it replaces the theme and outputs clean markup with excellent control over structure. Pros: leaner HTML/CSS, faster pages. Cons: steeper learning curve, less out-of-the-box templates, and licensing is per site (or lifetime).
Gutenberg (Block Editor) has matured into a capable builder, especially with block-based themes and Full Site Editing (FSE). It's the most integrated (native WordPress) and avoids plugin lock-in. Performance can be excellent, but advanced layouts sometimes require additional plugins or custom blocks.
Performance: Oxygen generally yields the smallest codebase and fastest LCP. Gutenberg + a lightweight theme can be nearly as fast. Elementor requires more care (optimization & selective widget usage) to match performance.
Ease of use: Elementor wins (WYSIWYG, intuitive). Gutenberg is improving and is the most future-proof. Oxygen is best for developers and agencies building reusable templates.
Cost: Elementor Pro is subscription-based. Oxygen is paid (one-time or lifetime offers). Gutenberg is free but you might need premium blocks or a theme for more sophisticated design.
Recommendation:
For rapid design and non-developers: Elementor. Use with a lightweight theme and caching.
For performance-driven sites built by devs: Oxygen. Clean markup and fast outputs.
For future-proof, native approach: Gutenberg/FSE. Good balance and no vendor lock-in.
